November 11th, 2018, Veterans’ Day, aka Armistice Day.
This is the 100th Anniversary and is being celebrated all across the United States with Hawaii as the last State.
Centennial Celebration will be at the WW1 MEMORIAL at the Natatorium at Waikiki Beach in Honolulu, Hawaii.
The Ceremonies will commence at 11am until 1230, but there will be continuous entertainment throughout the afternoon.
The Royal Hawaiian Band will be playing at the Waikiki Bandstand at 1400 along with 5 WW1 movies being played throughout the day. There will be a WW1 museum as well as the Hawaii Historical Arms Association displaying uniforms and weapons used during World War I.
At 1900, the Harry James Orchestra will play dance music until 2100.
We are planning to have a fireworks display to conclude the celebration.
For those who would like to volunteer, please send Gordon, NH7VI, your name, call sign, contact number, T-shirt size, and time attending. You will receive a meal ticket for your time.
Will assign a member to a Chairperson/ or person of importance, for direct communications and/or be under the tent to address inquires about Amateur Radio. Be sure to bring your radio if you can to set it up and show it off.
Early parking will be at the Shell, Kapiolani Community College, and the National Guard Headquarters and shuttle service will be provided. Mauka side parking on Kalakaua will be available at 1100.
